NOCTURN BRANDING: GROUP PROJECT

NOCTURN BRANDING: GROUP PROJECT

This was a group project I did with Emma Ferrante, Claire Phegley, and Summer Gregg. The goal of the project was to create a company to fill a spot in a vacant store front and pitch it to hypothetical investors. We created a restaurant called Nocturn: Breakfast at Night.

I created the word mark and logo for Nocturn, the logo animation and three promotional flyers to hang around town advertising for the restaurant. The aesthetic of Nocturn is classy and sophisticated. A restaurant that is only open at night and serves a primarily adult crowd.

LOGO ANIMATION

The questions I asked each person reflected the relational nature of the project by asking what their favorite story was to tell, how do they define a meaningful relationship, in one word how do they feel after having a meaningful conversation, and etc.

CREATING THE LOGO

While creating this logo I new I wanted something that was representative of breakfast and night without being too cliche or on the nose. After a few variations I landed upon this mark of a waffle moon. Breakfast is not normally a classy meal, so I created the moon and matched it with the serif typeface to convey a sense of upscale and sophistication.

THE FLYERS

For the flyers, I was heavily inspired by the vintage advertisements I see in old magazines. The ads I see always have clever tag-lines as well so I came up with these three that I thought best fit the aesthetic and atmosphere this restaurant would have.
